Your fuel system (along with other systems as well) is controlled by a computer and sensors known as the Engine Management Unit. The sensors measure many factors, such as coolant temperature, air pressure, engine vacuum, ambient air temperature and more to help the fuel system calculate EXACTLY how much fuel is required for best engine efficiency, lowest emissions, and maximum power.
While the computer can generally last the life of the vehicle, the sensors are subject to constant operation, heat, and other factors that can make them wear. As such, they are typically a regular maintenance item that may require troubleshooting to diagnose.
We at Auto Express are experts in engine control diagnosis, and can quickly pinpoint any type of drivability problem. At the first sign of poor fuel mileage, rough running, or a “check engine” light, call us at (903) 581-2210 and we’ll discuss a priority appointment for you.
